Upon completion of this training course, you will be able to:

- Interpret the ISO/IEC 42001 requirements for AI management systems from an auditor’s perspective
- Assess the conformity of an AI management system to ISO/IEC 42001 requirements, guided by fundamental audit concepts and principles
- Plan, execute, and conclude an ISO/IEC 42001 compliance audit, adhering to ISO/IEC 17021-1 requirements, ISO 19011 guidelines, and general auditing best practices
- Manage an ISO/IEC 42001 audit program

Examination
The “PECB Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Auditor” exam aligns with the PECB Examination and Certification Program (ECP). It assesses the following competency domains:
Domain 1: Fundamental principles and concepts of an AI management system
Domain 2: AI management system requirements
Domain 3: Fundamental audit concepts and principles
Domain 4: Preparing an ISO/IEC 42001 audit
Domain 5: Conducting an ISO/IEC 42001 audit
Domain 6: Closing an ISO/IEC 42001 audit
Domain 7: Managing an ISO/IEC 42001 audit program

Certification
PECB ISO/IEC 42001 Certification Path and Requirements
Upon successfully passing the exam, you may apply for one of four professional credentials based on your experience level. All credentials require passing the PECB Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Auditor Exam (or an approved equivalent) and signing the PECB Code of Ethics.
1. Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Provisional Auditor
Best suited for newcomers who have mastered the theoretical aspects but lack practical auditing or industry experience.

Exam Requirement: Pass the PECB Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Auditor Exam (or equivalent)

2. Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Auditor
Designed for professionals with foundational experience in AI management and auditing.

Exam Requirement: Pass the PECB Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Auditor Exam (or equivalent)

Professional Experience: Two years total, including at least one year of specific work experience in Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Management System Audit Experience: A minimum total of 200 hours of qualifying audit activities

3. Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Auditor
The standard credential for experienced professionals qualified to plan, lead, and manage AI management system audit teams.

Exam Requirement: Pass the PECB Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Auditor Exam (or equivalent)

Professional Experience: Five years total, including at least two years of specific work experience in Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Management System Audit Experience: A minimum total of 300 hours of qualifying audit activities

4. Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Senior Lead Auditor
The highest tier for expert practitioners with extensive, long-term leadership experience in auditing AI frameworks.

Exam Requirement: Pass the PECB Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Auditor Exam (or equivalent)

Professional Experience: Ten years total, including at least seven years of specific work experience in Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Management System Audit Experience: A minimum total of 1,000 hours of qualifying audit activities

Additional Requirement: Sign the PECB Code of Ethics
Note on Qualifying Audit Activities: To be recognized by PECB, your audit hours must adhere to best practices and include activities such as audit planning, managing an audit program, drafting audit or nonconformity reports, conducting on-site audits, and leading an audit team.
General
- Certification and examination fees are included in the price of the training course.
- Participants will receive comprehensive training materials containing over 450 pages of explanatory content, examples, best practices, exercises, and quizzes.
- An attestation of course completion worth 31 CPD (Continuing Professional Development) credits will be issued to participants who attend the training course.
- Should a candidate fail the exam, they may retake it free of charge within 12 months of the initial attempt.
