- Interpret the ISO/IEC 42001 requirements for an AI management system from an auditor's perspective
- Evaluate the conformity of an AI management system to ISO/IEC 42001 requirements, applying fundamental audit concepts and principles
- Plan, conduct, and close an ISO/IEC 42001 compliance audit in accordance with ISO/IEC 17021-1 requirements, ISO 19011 guidelines, and auditing best practices
- Manage an ISO/IEC 42001 audit program

Day 2: Audit principles and the preparation for and initiation of an audit

Examination
The “PECB Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Auditor” exam meets the requirements of the PECB Examination and Certification Program (ECP). It covers the following competency domains:
Domain 1: Fundamental principles and concepts of an AI management system
Domain 2: AI management system requirements
Domain 3: Fundamental audit concepts and principles
Domain 4: Preparing an ISO/IEC 42001 audit
Domain 5: Conducting an ISO/IEC 42001 audit
Domain 6: Closing an ISO/IEC 42001 audit
Domain 7: Managing an ISO/IEC 42001 audit program

Certification
PECB ISO/IEC 42001 Certification Path and Requirements
After successfully passing the exam, you can apply for one of four professional credentials depending on your experience level. All credentials require passing the PECB Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Auditor Exam (or an approved equivalent) and signing the PECB Code of Ethics.
1. Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Provisional Auditor
Ideal for newcomers to the field who have mastered the theoretical knowledge but do not yet have practical auditing or industry experience.

Exam Requirement: Pass the PECB Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Auditor Exam (or equivalent)

2. Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Auditor
Designed for professionals with a foundational level of experience in artificial intelligence management and auditing.

Exam Requirement: Pass the PECB Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Auditor Exam (or equivalent)

Professional Experience: Two years total, with at least one year of specific work experience in Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Management System Audit Experience: A minimum total of 200 hours of qualifying audit activities

Additional Requirement: Sign the PECB Code of Ethics
3. Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Auditor
The standard credential for experienced professionals qualified to plan, lead, and manage AI management system audit teams.

Exam Requirement: Pass the PECB Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Auditor Exam (or equivalent)

Professional Experience: Five years total, with at least two years of specific work experience in Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Management System Audit Experience: A minimum total of 300 hours of qualifying audit activities

Additional Requirement: Sign the PECB Code of Ethics
4. Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Senior Lead Auditor
The highest tier for expert practitioners with comprehensive, long-term leadership experience auditing AI frameworks.

Exam Requirement: Pass the PECB Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Auditor Exam (or equivalent)

Professional Experience: Ten years total, with at least seven years of specific work experience in Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Management System Audit Experience: A minimum total of 1,000 hours of qualifying audit activities

Additional Requirement: Sign the PECB Code of Ethics
Qualifying Audit Activities Note: To be considered valid by PECB, your audit hours must follow best practices and should include activities like audit planning, managing an audit program, drafting audit or nonconformity reports, conducting on-site audits, and leading an audit team.
General
- Certification and examination fees are included in the price of the training course.
- Participants will be provided with the training course material containing over 450 pages of explanatory information, examples, best practices, exercises, and quizzes.
- An attestation of course completion worth 31 CPD (Continuing Professional Development) credits will be issued to the participants who have attended the training course.
- In case candidates fail the exam, they can retake it within 12 months following the initial attempt for free.
Requirements
To participate in this training, a foundational understanding of ISO/IEC 42001 and core AI principles and concepts is required.
